Muscle Scraping

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage, commonly referred to as IASTM or scraping, is a manual therapy technique used to address various musculoskeletal conditions and soft tissue injuries. This technique involves the use of specialized tools, often made of stainless steel or plastic, to apply controlled pressure and friction to the body's soft tissues, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. The instrument is used to glide over the affected area, applying specific pressure and strokes. The controlled pressure and friction applied by the instrument help break down adhesions (fibrous tissue) that may have formed between muscle layers or around tendons and ligaments. This can improve blood flow, tissue mobility, and reduce pain. IASTM is believed to stimulate the body's natural healing response by promoting the reorganization of collagen fibers in the affected tissues. This can lead to improved tissue function and reduced pain over time.

IASTM is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including sports injuries, overuse injuries, chronic pain, and conditions like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and rotator cuff injuries. It is considered safe when performed by a trained healthcare professional.
